About Us
“Boring. Irrelevant. Harmful.”
This is what many people think of church today — But what if church didn’t have to be this way?
This question is at the heart of Iron Coast Church. It started with 10 normal people just like you. Tired of confusing churches and empty religiosity driving their friends away from God, they decided to start something new — a church for their friends who didn’t like church. Today, Iron Coast Church is a movement of people in the Midcoast region of Maine — and it’s just getting started.
Our passion is Jesus, our mission is Maine and the opportunity is now.
Guiding explorers to extraordinary lives through Jesus.

What We Believe
Our Statement of Faith
We believe in one God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Truth of God the Father
God is the Father Almighty, Creator of all things visible and invisible.
Genesis 1:1• Matthew 5:16, 45 • Matthew 6:1, 4, 8, 9 • Acts 17:24-28 • Hebrews 11:3 • James 1:17
The Truth of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the eternal Word, the one and only Savior; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, both fully human and fully divine; Who lived a sinless life; Who suffered and was crucified as an atonement for sin; Who rose again bodily from the dead on the third day; Who ascended into Heaven; and Who will return in victory to rule forever.
Luke 1:26-35 • Luke 22:47-24:53 • John 1:1, 14, 29 • John 3:16 • John 20:24-29 • Acts 1:1-9 • Romans 5:15-17 • 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 • Philippians 2:6-11 • Colossians 1:15-19 • Colossians 2:9 • Colossians 3:1 • Hebrews 4:15 • 1 John 4:9 • Revelation 1:7-8 • Revelation 11:1
The Truth of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine; Who convicts of sin; Who indwells every Christian; Who helps us in our weakness and intercedes for us in prayer; and Who empowers us to a fruitful Christian life.
John 16:8 • 1 Corinthians 3:16 • 1 Corinthians 6:19 • 2 Timothy 1:14 • Romans 8:26 • Galatians 5:22-23
We believe in the Bible—God’s Holy Word, Scripture.
The Truth of Scripture
God inspired the original writings of the Scripture and those original writings were consequently without error. The Bible is the final authority for all matters of faith, truth, morality, and Christian living.
Isaiah 40:8 • Psalm 119:11, 105 • Matthew 5:18 • Matthew 24:35 • Mark 12:36 • John 14:26 • John 16:12-15 • Acts 1:16 • Romans 15:4 • 1 Corinthians 2:12-13 • 2 Timothy 3:14-16 • 2 Peter 1:20-21
The Truth of Sexuality
We believe the Bible teaches that God is the Creator and Sustainer of human life; that God creates each person in His image; and that life is therefore sacred, from conception to natural death. We believe that God creates each person as male or female; that these two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the “image of God” in humankind; and that each person’s biological gender is an intrinsic, immutable aspect of his or her nature and identity.
Genesis 1:26-27 • Genesis 2:7, 21-22 • Psalm 139:13-18
The Truth of Marriage
We believe the Bible teaches that God established marriage in the beginning as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman; that He has reserved sexual intimacy as an expression of love and commitment between married couples; and that any intimate expression of sexuality outside of Biblical marriage is sin.
Genesis 2:23-25 • Exodus 20:14, 17 • Genesis 22:19 • Leviticus 18:1-20, 22-23 • Leviticus 20:11-21 • Matthew 19:4-6, 9 • Romans 1:18-31 • 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 • 15-20 • 1 Timothy 1:8-11 • Jude 7
We believe in the Gospel—the Good News of Salvation.
The Truth of Humanity
Humanity, created by God, willfully sinned against God and is consequently lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 53:6 • Acts 4:12 • Romans 3:23
The Truth of Salvation
Salvation—the forgiveness of sins—is only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ: one receives salvation by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin, and confessing Christ, and that the Bible commands every believer in Christ to be baptized by immersion. Those who have received salvation through faith in Jesus Christ are sent into the world to proclaim the gospel and to love and serve the world just as Jesus Himself did.
Matthew 26:28 • Matthew 28:18-20 • John 20:21 • Acts 2:38 • Acts 3:19 • Romans 5:1-2 • Romans 5:9 • Romans 10:9 • 2 Corinthians 5:11-21 • Galatians 3:27 • Ephesians 2:8-10 • Colossians 2:12 • 1 Peter 1:18-19 • 1 Peter 3:21 • 1 John 1:7
We believe in Eternity — God’s promise of life everlasting.
The Truth of the Second Coming
Jesus Christ will physically return to establish His Kingdom and to judge both the living and the dead. This will occur at a time only the Father knows. At His return, the resurrection of all people — both the righteous and the wicked — will take place.
Matthew 24:30 • Matthew 26:63-64 • John 5:28-29 • Acts 1:9-11 • 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 • 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 • 2 Timothy 4:1 • Revelation 1:7 • Revelation 22:12-13
The Truth of Heaven and Hell
Humanity was created to exist forever. Those who place their faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, and maintain a growing relationship with Him, will not be condemned but will spend eternity with God in Heaven. Those who reject Jesus and refuse to follow Him will be separated from God’s presence and spend eternity in Hell. Heaven, like salvation and grace, is a gift from God, while Hell is the rightful consequence for those who have not accepted God’s offer of forgiveness. Both Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
Matthew 7:21-23 • Matthew 25:31-46 • Mark 9:43-48 • Luke 16:19-31 • John 3:16, 36 • John 14:1-6 • Romans 6:23 • 2 Thessalonians 1:9 • Revelation 20:11-15
We believe in the Church—God’s redeemed people.
The Truth of the Church
The Church of Jesus Christ, founded on the Day of Pentecost, consists of all Christians everywhere, and is organized into local assemblies called churches. The Bible teaches that every Christian should be an active member of a local church.
Matthew 16:13- 18 • Acts 2:14-47 • Hebrews 10:24-25
The Truth of Church Leadership
The Elders of the church are the overseers of its affairs and the shepherds of its members; they are the final interpretive authority of the Bible’s meaning and application for the church; and they are responsible for the oversight, instruction, edification, discipline, and restoration of church members.
Matthew 18:15-17 • 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 • Galatians 6:1 • Titus 1:9 • Titus 2:1-15 • Hebrews 13:17 • 1 Peter 5:1-4
The Truth of the Christian Life
Every follower of Jesus is filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit with gifts and skills to serve and support the Church. The Church, established by Jesus, is called to serve one another, faithfully submit to the authority of the elders, hold each other accountable in the faithful worship of God, grow together in Christ-likeness, and actively serve the world by living generously, bringing hope and healing, and sharing the good news of Jesus. The mission of the Church is to make and multiply disciples of Jesus everywhere. Followers of Jesus regularly gather to encourage one another through teaching, relationships, prayer, and the Lord’s Supper.
